Rising oil prices have concentrated minds on designing a fuel for the future. Electric, hybrid and biofuel cars all feature among the alternatives which have captured the imagination. These technologies are yet to be perfected but one man is refusing to use this as an excuse for inaction.

In this first episode, we hear the bold plans of former senior executive at SAP, Shai Agassi, who quit traditional technology for clean technology. Shai’s start up company ‘Project Better Place’ has secured $US 200 million in funding to build an electric car infrastructure in Israel. The government is on-board and so is car giant Renault-Nissan.

We also hear from Renault-Nissan’s CEO Carlos Ghosn about why he is committed to seeing electric vehicles mass produced - that’s despite General Motors having ditched the idea five years ago, saying it couldn’t be profitable.
